What Does "CEO" Stand For: Points To Consider

Have your own business? You are the CEO, the Chief Executive Officer! Of course you know this. Plan on starting your own business? You will be Chief Executive Officer! You also are aware of this.

Chief Executive Officer can be defined as one who is responsible for the operations of a company. But have you truly embraced and accepted what being CEO means to you personally? Are you able to articulate Why you are, or desire to be, the Chief Executive Officer?

ENTERPRISE PORTAL

The acronym CEO rolls off of our tongues with ease, perhaps without a whole lot of thought. Successful CEOs are fully aware of what CEO stands for - what it means - specifically for themselves and theirs, not simply a standard definition, but regarding an internal reason for being - Why. And they are able to articulate that meaning.

EBusiness whiz CEO, CarbonCopyPro's Internet Entrepreneur Jay Kubassek, believes that we are all endowed with 99% of what we need to succeed in this life. The remaining 1%, however, is yet to be discovered. It's the final aspect before reaching the desired 100%!

Kubassek's formula for reaching 100% is simple: X + Y = Z. X stands for Why - understanding of, and, ability to articulate, your reason for being; Y stands for Action - applying that 99%, the sum total of what you are to this point; and Z stands for Leadership - become Leadership by surrounding yourself with, and learning from proven leaders. This is Leverage. Become Leadership and you will attract leaders and thus be in a position to create more leverage for your enterprise. Your ability to create leverage will define your level of success.

What does CEO stand for? Start with Why, your unique reason. It is ultimately up to you to discover and define. It might be helpful to break down the standard definition of CEO:

Chief Executive Officer

Chiefs are those who are highest in rank or authority, the supposed leaders. "There are leaders and there are those who lead. Leaders hold positions of influence, but those who lead inspire us. And whether they're individuals or organizations, we follow those who lead not for them but for ourselves. We follow those who lead not because we have to, but because we want to." - Simon Sinek, Start With Why

Executives are those who have administrative or managerial authority in an organization. Chief Executives typically have the highest authority in an enterprise. As CEO, with the presumed highest authority in your company, it is your responsibility to execute, and make your enterprise valid by performing or carrying out what is required. What is required is a critical responsibility to lead by example which means being honest and having strong moral principles: Be complete in everything, unified and sound in character. Achieve both financial and personal success with the embodiment of these traits. They are not only desirable but essential to success as the highest authority in your enterprise.

Officers are those who hold an office of authority, a position of trust in an organization. They are trusted for performing particular duties and functions. There is a certain significance or prestige that goes along with the Office of Chief Executive. Many people spend their time and money talking and discussing, rather than doing and learning. Will you be able to commit to a new course of action and hold yourself accountable, as befits the Office of Chief Executive, or will you become a member of the 97% of others who give up?

Chief, Executive and Officer are three separate words but with very similar meanings. No matter which word, the main reference is to authority. The question is, what kind of authority will you be? What kind of CEO do you stand for? Are you capable of reappraising your life and reshaping the way you think? Do you have the courage to look inside yourself and discover what motivates you?

Saying good luck does not cut the mustard. Luck has nothing to do with it. It begins with you, as Chief Executive Officer, with your fortitude, your courage and strength of mind in the face of adversity.'
