Disney Netpal by ASUS 8.9-Inch Princess Pink Netbook - A Quick Review

The Disney Netpal (by ASUS) Princess netbook is a collaboration by ASUS and Disney to give your girly girl a great looking kid-friendly laptop that they'll love so they won't bug you about using your own laptop. Tough, durable and solidly built the netbook offers a slightly smaller 8.9" screen which should satisfy most kids. Like most stuff made for girly girls, the netbook is pink with a flowery heart-filled imprint cover that has been given the name of Princess Pink. The keyboard keys are nice and big and should fit most little fingers while the track-pad offers multi-gesture support. At 2.65 pounds it is quite lightweight. The netbook has been built to be very tough and even has a spill-proof keyboard and anti-shock features.

In terms of components the Disney Netpal Princess netbook is quite similar to older ASUS Eee PC netbooks with an Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory and a 160GB hard disk drive. The system is powered by Windows XP with a custom-made kid-friendly interface by Disney. The netbook has the standard integrated web-cam and speakers allowing for chatting and socializing. The netbook can connect via 802.11 b / g /n wifi. While the screen is only 8.9 inches it does use an LED back-light for better energy efficiency. Other connections include a VGA port, three USB ports, a card reader, a network port and the usual audio jacks.

While the Disney Netpal Princess netbook is made for your little one, it also offers you and other parents a host of easy-to-use parental controls. These include scheduling controls to determine when or how long your child can use the netbook, website and email permissions and a report and tracking feature so you can check up on what he or she has been doing. Disney have made the interface very easy to use complete with colorful Apple-like widgets and applications. Disney themes abound with plenty of images any kid would enjoy. There's also a host of applications bundled together including a media player, notepad, calculator and many others. The Disney Netpal Princess netbook can last for five hours on single charge so she has something to occupy her if she follows you to the office.

Overall, the Disney Netpal Princess netbook is an excellent first computer for your tech-savvy little girl. It not only looks good in pink, but it also performs well with great parental controls and applications built-into the system, making it ideal for both you and your child.
