It's Addictive - Trading Disney Lanyard Pins

Disney lanyard pins are all the rage with those who love Disney. Or love collecting. Or both. Pin trading is an enjoyable hobby that's even more fun when you realize that once at Disney, you can trade them with cast members!

But trading Disney lanyard pins does have an etiquette, although it's pretty relaxed. And here's what you need to know before you go to Disney and start your trading!

DISNEY

First -- What is a Disney Lanyard Pin?

Maybe you've never been to Disneyland or Disney World. Or maybe you've been a zillion times but have never noticed people walking around with lanyards around their necks, sporting pins of all sizes, shapes and colors. Either way, here's a quick overview.

Disney Pin trading has been around several years, and it involves purchasing a lanyard (or lanyards) of your favorite theme park and adding pins to it. The pins are of various Disney characters, old and new. They are generally pretty small, like the size of a lapel pin.

Some are rare and quite collectible. Others are fairly common and inexpensive -- great for starting your Disney pin collection.

If you've not experienced the thrill of the hunt yet, Disney pin trading is not only fun...but very addictive!

Trading Disney Pins

Once you're at Disney, you can trade pins with any cast member who is wearing a lanyard and pins. Here is some of the etiquette for trading Disney lanyard pins with a cast member:

There is a limit for trading with an specific cast member -- only two pins per day. However, you can trade with as many cast members per day as you wish! The pin on your lanyard that you want to trade has to be an authentic Disney pin -- you can't trade knock-offs with a Disney cast member. The cast member can only trade for a pin that's not already on their lanyard. So if you have a Pirate Mickey Mouse pin and the cast member already has this pin on his or her lanyard, you can't trade that particular pin. Don't touch or grab a cast member's lanyard. Ask if you can see something closer and they will hold out the lanyard for you

You can also trade with other Disney guests, but remember, Disney guests are not obligated to trade their pins with you.
